Swarovski Spotting Scopes….Aluminum or Magnesium, Two Great Options
Swarovski currently manufacturers their spotting scope bodies with two different materials for the internal frame of the scope body, aluminum and magnesium. The magnesium models are designated by the letter M in their product names such as ATM and STM. These scopes are slightly lighter in weight then the aluminum models, see weight chart below. There is Absolutely No Difference in the design, glass quality or optical performance in the aluminum and magnesium models. Their has been a slight change to the color of the external rubber armoring. Swarovski introduced the magnesium models in 2009 believing that purchasers would be pay an additional cost to save a few ounces in overall weight. To best serve our customs we carry both spotting scope designs. Please Note: The aluminum / magnesium option only refers to the spotting scope body, the eyepieces are still manufactured from aluminum.
