Motion activated illumination powers on when it senses movement and powers down when it does not, to preserve battery life. When the illumination is manually turned back on, it will remember your last used settings. The Sig Sauer ROMEO 5 1x20 Red Dot Sight has a battery life of over 40,000 hours.
